This past Tuesday, October 6, Flat Bucky attended the Solidarity March! This great event was hosted by Bucknell student organizations in partnership with CommUnity Zone. The silent march began on the Academic Quad and went all the way to Hufnagle Park in downtown Lewisburg. There, the attendees got to experience different performances that shone a light on human rights and broke the silence against discrimination, marginalization, and intolerance against diversity of sexual orientations, race, gender identities, and religious/secular affiliations. The performances included a variety of slam poetry, singing, rapping, and dancing by Bucknell students and Lewisburg community members. During a quick interview with student performer Amarachi Ekekwe she said, “we gather with hope to unify the Bucknell and Lewisburg communities, this is an effort to change the community climate”.
Every year, the Solidarity March will continue to inspire its attendees to become more open minded and accepting of human differences. Join us next Fall!
